Joe Garvey

Technical Director

Joe is an MEng student and the director of Cosmos Audio, an audio engineering firm spun out of the Cambridge Engineering department. Joe started Cosmos Audio after finding himself unhappy with the offerings of commercial audio and designed his own. Heavily inspired by his experiences working in Bristol and Berlin, he deployed his first custom system at Caius May Ball in 2024. An enthusiast for all things audio-visual, Joe is obsessive about sound, light and architecture, with every event, big or small receiving the same attention to detail.

Between Slipped Disc, Arcsoc, Cambridge Northern Soul, Cambridge Dance, Sumfin Sumfin, Off the Record, Roll On, Stuff'd and the Psychedelic Society, there are few events in Cambridge that haven't seen Joe's influence.

OUR STORY

The Triple Arrow Difference

Winter 2022

Clare Sound wins backing from Re-Production, our main technical partner.

Summer 2023

Working with Re-Production and our other national partners, we deliver Clare May Ball, Hughes Hall Ball and Queen's Bounce.

Summer 2024

Expanding our capability, we deliver the Hawks' Club Annual Event, Trinity Hall June Event, Clare May Ball, Bunker at King's Affair and full backline requirement for Christ's May Ball.

Autumn 2024

We formally launch Triple Arrow as its own independent company, winning multiple contracts for events in December 2024 and June 2025.

In 2024, Triple Arrow was spun out of Clare Sound, the leading student-run production society in the country. For two decades, Clare Sound has worked with student event organisers to deliver their events to professional standard. Since 2004, Clare Sound has delivered countless Cambridge May Balls and we’ve now taken the next step with backing from our national partners to expand our capability to offer complete full-service event production.

Triple Arrow works exclusively with high-profile student-run events and we’re on a mission to reimagine the look, sound and feel of May Balls, eschewing the repetitive in favour of the bespoke. Backed by some of the UK’s leading technical production companies, we harness the latest event tech to create unparalleled experiences that truly do stand out.

Leveraging our partner network, we combine a diverse range of technical solutions to deploy packages that are normally completely unique. From bespoke projection mapping and architectural lighting systems, to custom stage sets and audio systems, we transform venues into otherworldly places that deliver exceptional experiences at exceptional price points. We know your events are expensive to run. That’s why we’ve already negotiated some of the industry’s best deals on the latest and greatest production equipment for you. Better still, we operate an unequivocal price matching guarantee: if you can find a more competitive equivalent quote, we will always match it, no questions asked.

Whilst exceptional value for money and access to the latest tech differentiate us from many of our competitors, our dedicated project teams are the heart of what makes us truly unique. We cater exclusively to the Cambridge May Ball market, and we’ve refined our project management approach to specifically accommodate the unique circumstances within which these events take place. We get college bureaucracy, May Ball specific council regulations, and a committee generally made up of busy students. We're young, friendly, and always willing to go above and beyond to deliver.

That’s the Triple Arrow Difference.
